The second instalment of this three-piece puzzle from heaven is said to bring nostalgia, excitement and groundbreaking gameplay to the table. The remake of the 1997 classic may be a mouthful to say, but following the creator Square Enix’s success in the past, we’re chomping to find out how it will play.
The RPG has been viewed by a select few, and they’ve all come back raving about the gameplay and graphics. The fluidity of the combat and the classic cutscenes are an ode to the originals, yet the game still manages to push the bar and create a game worthy of your time. Could this be the best RPG, single-player game out there? We’ll have to wait and see, but long-time fans of the Final Fantasy franchise are itching to re-live this classic.
Rebirth won’t be a carbon copy of the original 1997 game because that would be too many pixels. The new battle mechanics, side quests, and free-roaming opportunities are just a few of the major changes that the game has gone through.
Zack Fair rises from the ashes and finds nothing but drama waiting for him. Someone had to start the fight. You can find out more about this in the 4-minute-long trailer, should you wish for more than a few spoilers, or you could just wait eagerly for the game to hit the shelves this week.

Final Fantasy has done more than just leave a mark in the gaming world. It has etched itself into many gamers’ hearts. This franchise was the beginning for a lot of young gamers and shaped the industry into what it has become.
Since 1987, the gaming industry has had a very high standard to meet when it comes to entertainment value. Square Enix achieved so much success, not only in terms of sales but also in creating one of the most pivotal role-playing games (RPG) the industry has seen. The storytelling and emotional plot twists have had many invested in the series for well over three decades.
This game showed the world that a video game is so much more than violence and death. The characters were relatable in not-so-relatable ways, and the intricate storylines taught life lessons as well as motivated you to win.
Not only are they good at telling stories, Square Enix has always been good at taking the lead when it comes to innovation and technological advancement. The latest instalment will be available on PS5, but developers have always had a knack for using their console of choice in the best way possible. Known for showcasing the hardware, there’s no doubt that the new PlayStation is about to shine.
The constant push for innovation that excites and amazes also pushes others in the industry to do the same. Not only has this game series nailed creating an innovative, exciting and groundbreaking game, but it has also managed to popularise one of the most underrated genres of video games. Japanese Role-Playing Games (JRPGs) rarely existed outside of Japan until Final Fantasy came along. The success of Final Fantasy in the late 1990s broke down that cultural barrier and found its audience not long after, thus giving birth to a now-major sector of the gaming world.
There’s no doubt that Final Fantasy shaped the gaming industry that we all know and love to this day. Not only did it create a groundbreaking RPG for the world to enjoy, but it also created the trend of innovating to stay at the top. The influence of this series is far greater than many young gamers will ever understand, but they do say arcade games are making a comeback, so who knows?
